Getting Started
How do I enrol my child?
You can register your interest through our enrolment form. Once submitted, your child will be placed on the waitlist and we will be in touch when a suitable place becomes available.
How do I know which group my child should join?
You can choose to:
- start with an initial assessment (recommended),
- begin in the first group (Cygnus), or
- select a group yourself.
The assessment provides the most accurate placement and ensures your child begins at the most appropriate level.
What does the initial assessment involve?
The assessment is a one-on-one session designed to understand how your child thinks mathematically. It allows us to place them in the starting group where they will benefit most.
The assessment fee is $95.
Is the assessment required?
No. It is optional, but recommended if you are unsure where your child should begin.
Learning & Groups
How are groups structured?
Students are placed into groups based on their current level of mathematical understanding, not their age or year level.
Each group focuses on a specific stage of mathematical development, and students work with others at a similar level.
Do the courses within the groups need to be completed in a particular order
Not necessarily.
Each group represents a broader stage of mathematical development, and the courses within that group are designed to deepen understanding from different angles. While the courses are connected, they are not strictly linear, which means students can join a group at different points throughout the year without feeling “behind”.
Where appropriate, we may recommend a particular starting point or suggest an initial assessment to help determine the most suitable placement for your child.
Does my child move through the groups and courses automatically?
No. Students enrol in one course per term.
At the end of each term, families can choose whether they would like to continue into another course within the same group, progress into a new group, or take a break from the program.
Where appropriate, Maths Club may also recommend a different group to ensure your child continues to be challenged and supported at the right stage of development.
What if my child is placed in the wrong group?
We monitor students closely. If a different group would better suit your child, we will recommend a change.
What will my child actually do in sessions?
Students work on carefully designed tasks that develop understanding, reasoning, and connections across mathematical ideas. The focus is on thinking—not memorising procedures.
Practical Details
Where are sessions held?
Maths Club sessions are run from a local school. Please check our website for current locations.
How long are sessions?
Each session runs for 45 minutes, once per week, across 8 weeks in a term.
What if my child misses a session?
Optional follow-up tasks are available through the parent portal to support continuity.
Can parents support learning at home?
Yes. Parents have access to a learning portal where they can view session content and optional consolidation tasks.
Payments & Commitment
How much does it cost?
Fees are charged per term and include 8 sessions, as well as parent access to the learning portal.
$240 per term – per student
$95 per individual assessment – optional
Do I need to commit long-term?
No. Enrolment is term-by-term. Families can choose to continue each term based on their child’s needs.
Are places limited?
Yes. Groups are kept at a manageable small size to ensure each student is appropriately supported and challenged.
